Extended Network

Like the LAN connections, the "Extended Network" features is more than your typical resolver. By leveraging a number of different technologies (gTalk, Jabber, Twitter, etc.), Tomahawk can connect to other machines that are outside of your local network. Networked sources show up in your sidebar - where you can browse their libraries and playlists. The most common use case for this to get access to your home music collection from your other machines (e.g. laptop). To do this, it is as simple as logging in to both machines with the same credentials, such as your gmail address. This resolver is installed with Tomahawk and can be configured from the Preferences and/or Configuration screen. Note: to directly connect to other users, at least one of the two computers trying to connect via Tomahawk's "extended network" connection need to be visible from outside their local network (either by enabling UPnP on your router or via portforwarding).  You can read more about how to set up portforwarding in ZeroPaid's article, "Introduction to Port Forwarding".
